Katie Mahalic
Katie Mahalic is an accomplished podcaster, documentarian, and filmmaker. Originally from Flint, Michigan, over the years she has embraced a nomadic lifestyle, having lived in Los Angeles, Chicago, St. Louis, Nicaragua, San Francisco, and now Knoxville, Tennessee.
While she identifies as a filmmaker at heart, over the past three years she has developed a profound passion for podcasting. She eagerly anticipates each new story she has the privilege of sharing with her audience and delights in capturing the moments that define the human experience.

Her film work has received numerous awards, notably for her feature film "Welcome to Unity" and her short film "The Vacuum Kid.” Her latest project, "Shadow Clock," premiered in October 2023 and is currently in its first season.

Katie has an extensive teaching background, having instructed at San Francisco State University, Washington University in St. Louis, The Art Institute of Illinois, Chicago, and Columbia College Chicago. She currently teaches in the journalism department at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

Her passion for storytelling is fueled by her love of travel, hiking, National Parks, stargazing, and taking in her own life’s moments.
